JOB DESCRIPTION

The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.


Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or GED

* One (1) Year Experience in the primary Imaging Modality

Preferred Qualifications:

* Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred

* Bachelor's Degree

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

* Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations:

- American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT),

- American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS),

- American Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT),

- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or

- American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).

* Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.

* Registry in second modality must be completed within 18 months of hire or transfer date.

* American Heart Association BLS.

Work Schedule:

36 hours per week; Overnight on weekends - Friday - Sunday 7pm - 7am
