We approach problems with creativity and innovation.  Schnabel’s   Blacksburg, VA office is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our growing practice.  We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, dedication to performing work accurately and efficiently, and a desire to be part of a strong team.  

Job Responsibilities:

• Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and sprayed-on fireproofing


• Preparation and submission of field reports in a timely manner using company software


• Soil and concrete laboratory testing

Required Skills/Experience:

• High School degree


• Valid Driver’s License


• Possess good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills


• Able to perform rudimentary mathematic computations


• Attentive to detail


• Interest in working outdoors on construction sites


• Candidates must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside.


• At least 1 year of experience in construction materials observation and testing (preferred)

Other Requirements:

• 
   Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check


• Ability to pass a pre-employment employment drug screening
