Job Description



Reporting to the General Manager of U.S. Seal Mfg., aftermarket industrial distribution, the application engineer is responsible for managing and supporting the following activities: You will provide leadership and data analysis to drive business development thru review and analysis, of current product performance and quality, competitor product analysis and reverse engineering in conjunction with approved vendors, technical support to our customers to identify and cross competitor products, and assist with analysis of returned goods for both internal and external customers, A successful candidate needs to be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with internal and external customers. You will become a subject matter expert (SME) related to U.S. Seal Mfg. products performance in the field. This knowledge and experience should focus on driving enhanced product performance and exceptional customer support.







Duties & Responsibilities




  • Technical Support: determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions.

  • Recommend alternate products based on cross referencing competitor seals or identifying replacements for OEM provided products.

  • Work toward the resolution of customers' complaints or problems; analyze customer complaints or returned materials and initiate corrective actions.

  • Train/educate on the technical aspects of U.S. Seal products and assist the customer with their applications.

  • Remain current on consumer preferences, changes in industry wide standards and product developments.

  • Work with and coordinate with suppliers and other departments within the company to assure the quality of products or services.

  • Develop and maintain documents and procedures for the control of purchased products.

  • Design and implement inspection procedures and policies.

  • Communicate to the planning and purchasing personnel any urgent matter or issues regarding purchased products.

  • Setup and maintain product and vendor databases.

  • Qualify and structure new products or bill of materials. Maintain documentation.

  • Focus on safety and zero harm culture.

  • Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the team.

  • Maintain proficiency in using personal computer, data entry terminal, internal applications and other common office equipment and software.

  • Follow company policies and procedures.

  • Present a professional image at all times to customers and vendors.

  • Ensure products meet or exceed company and market expectations

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of company products, their methods of manufacturing, and the features that determine use and "end-of-life"

  • Provide support and expertise to sales teams as applicable

  • Perform other duties as assigned.







The Individual




  • 2 years of experience in similar role

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, or materials science preferred

  • Experience with mechanical drawings

  • Experience with data analysis

  • Experience working with mechanical seals or rotating equipment in aftermarket industrial distribution or repair

  • Exposure to commercial OEM product marketing and distribution

  • Good written and oral communication skills
