This individual will be responsible for implementing and executing operational tasks and procedures to support a new facility in Durham, NC. This individual will fulfill the requirements of maintaining the general, day to day operations of the facility to support preclinical research. This candidate will work directly with research scientists and management to determine the day to day needs and seek effective solutions.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Performs general laboratory maintenance and maintains cleanliness of the lab per facility SOPs
Supports shipping and receiving efforts, including shipment tracking
Conducts asset induction (if applicable) and performs equipment maintenance per SOPs
Filing and distribution of invoices and shipping receipts
Conducts routine chemical and reagent inventory and preparation
Supports biological sample inventory
Supports lab re-organization when needed
Biohazardous waste management and may serve as EH&S liaison
Monitors and responds to equipment and environmental alarms
Drafts and maintains facility SOPs and forms
Maintains completed forms and ensures proper archiving
Initiates onboarding new processes and related software applications as needed. This may include coordinating efforts with cross-functional teams (IT, Facilities, etc).
Identifies activities requiring operational improvement and implements solutions
Supports onboarding and lab operations training of new-hires
Performs related job duties as required
Desired Education and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with prior lab management experience
Ability to strictly adhere to methods and SOPs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to conceptualize, plan and execute processes for a new facility
Ability to handle a multi-task workload required
Ability to work well with team and cross-functional team members
Highly organized and able to work with great precision and attention to detail
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to respond to emergencies during nights and weekends
Experience working in biological laboratory preferred
Familiarity with gene therapy or gene editing is preferred
