The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for engineering investigation, research, design, development and analysis of chassis structures, suspension, steering, and axle components within the Chassis Development group at Peterbilt Division Headquarters in Denton, Texas. Duties involve working on new development programs, employing innovative skills to evolve ideas from concepts to implementation,current production design & support, factory process improvements, and field service & warranty projects. Additional duties include providing engineering assistance,assembly / system design, root cause analysis, problem definition and resolution, training and other engineering duties supporting various aspects of expedited programs. Additional tasks include completion of design for six sigma documentation in assigned phases of project, tracking costs and applying standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision, occasionally requiring independent evaluation. Hiring level for this position will be dependent upon education and experience.
