General Manager - Warehouse Facility at World Distribution Services LLC in Linden, New Jersey

Job Description:

WDS is currently looking for a General Manager for our brand new 480,000 square foot Warehouse in Linden, NJ!


Job Purpose


The General Manager is the leader of the operations and customer service teams, providing direction, guidance, corrective action and support to each of the members of the team, with support of the managers and supervisors of the facility or market. The General Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the warehouse and has a fiduciary duty to the company to ensure client retention, financial health, staff development and budgetary goals are met by the team.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Ensure safe, clean, and efficient warehouse operations

  • Ensure quality management system procedures are implemented and followed throughout the facility.

  • Oversight and management of both operations and administrative/customer service functions

  • Monitors and ensures financial goals are met, providing updates and progress regularly to executive team

  • Assists in rate negotiations by supplying pertinent data and customer requirements to management, in addition to overseeing rate filings for local clients

  • Works in conjunction with sales team to vet potential business opportunities

  • Interviews, hires, terminates, executes corrective action and participates in regular staff conversations

  • Conducts annual reviews for exempt/supervisor employees and others if needed

  • Recommends and implements salary changes for staff

  • Full P&L responsibility

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications



  • A strong business acumen and experience managing against a budget

  • Proven problem solving and analysis skills

  • Previous leadership experience with oversight of multiple managers and supervisors

  • Teambuilding Skills

  • Project management

  • Extremely strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Ability to think strategically and make effective decisions

  • Must be able to work with a wide range of employees, suppliers and customers

  • Strong MS Office skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines

  • Minimum of 7 years industry experience; Minimum of 5 years management experience

  • Some travel required

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule as needed, including planned and unplanned overtime (which may include weekends)

  • Prior experience working in an automated / conveyable environment (preferred)

Education



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Working Conditions


Primarily office environment with daily time spent in warehouse.
