Whatever it takes.Thales is currently seeking a Test Equipment Technician in Piscataway, NJ (relocation to Orlando, FL in approximately 6-8 months with assistance provided. Florida residents will be accommodated for initial employment in New Jersey. The Test Equipment Technician provides support for test equipment repair, maintenance and calibration. Activities needs to be carried out efficiently and expeditiously in order to ensure the maximum availability of test equipment to the Operations Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide a professional, responsive, and service oriented approach for test equipment maintenance and support
Manage daily workload/priorities in order to achieve maximum availability of test equipment for Operations
Perform installation and validation of software updates
Lead activities with subcontractors in support of test equipment and tooling manufacturing and maintenance
Contribute in new test equipment procurement and installation.
Develop and implement an efficient process of maintaining an optimum level of test equipment spares stock
Share preventive maintenance best practices
Collaborates with Technical Support Engineers, with regional counterparts, with HSE officer
Required Skills and Experience:
Must be willing and able to relocate to Orlando, Florida within 6-8 months of hire date
Associates degree in electronics with 2-4 years of experience in maintaining electronics or avionics testing and repair equipment within the aerospace industry, or a high school diploma or GED with 5-7 years of experience in electronics or avionics testing and repair equipment within the aerospace industry
2 plus years of experience and/or working knowledge of any or all of the following: Thales Electrical Power Conversion System/electric motors/generators and/or general electric power generation
Must be able to demonstrate high proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
Strong understanding of analog, digital, and electromechanical circuitry
Experience with manual and automatic test benches
Hands-on experience in test equipment design, fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and repairs
Ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment, dealing with numerous internal and external organizations
Must be willing and able to work independently, as well as in a team environment, both large and small
Ability to analyze complex issues and develop logical corrective actions approaches
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Ability to work at the computer and on the production floor
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Solid organization, decision-making, judgment, and team-oriented skills
Above average level of personal responsibility and well developed sense of urgency
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, individually and in teams
Self-motivation and history of successful direct contribution to company objectives
