The Enabling Technology Coordinator is responsible for ensuring Penn-Mar programs are equipped to take a technological approach to meeting the needs of the people we support through person centered and customized assistive technology solutions that align with peoples’ goals and personal outcomes.
Job Responsibilities:
Assesses the abilities, technical skills, and the home, school, and/or work environments for barriers that may be hindering a person’s progress in achieving their short- and long-term goals.
Meets with support teams and family to determine a person’s Enabling Technology requirements to achieve identified goals.
Researches and evaluates options and features of Enabling Technology applications, equipment, and other tools.
Assembles, expands, and maintains the agency Enabling Technology toolbox (ET Toolbox) by creating and maintaining a library of software, hardware, application, and device solutions.
Receives, configures, and verifies applications and equipment prior to issuing or delivery.
Maintains current product information regarding Enabling Technology equipment usage and procedures
Demonstrates and trains the family, support staff, and others (as appropriate) on the Enabling Technology utilized by a person we support.
Communicates with suppliers, vendors, manufacturers, and staff to arrange for purchase, delivery, issue, repair, and return of equipment.
Helps the people we support to identify means to secure Enabling Technology through government and grant sponsored opportunities.
Identifies new and emerging Enabling Technology solutions by doing research and attending webinars, workshops, and conferences.
Assists the IT Systems Team with Home Automation projects for our residential locations with a focus on person centered solutions.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
AA degree or equivalent related experience in social or human services
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Assistive Technology certification or equivalent experience in disability services and delivery of enabling technology (ET) experience
Ability to communicate and work effectively with the public, staff, and consumers
Knowledgeable of different ET devices and equipment used by people with disabilities
Ability to advocate for consumers requesting ET devices
Demonstrated proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and associated applications
