In this exciting role as a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will have responsibility for the ensuring the quality and compliance of materials we procure for manufacturing at Tempe facility. This specific role will support material procurement for products related to our Implantable Medical Devices and Diabetes line of products including chemicals, indirect materials and components needed to build these products.

Cardiac Rhythm Management

Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Integrated Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. It is comprised o f four key businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies, Defibrillation Solutions, Patient Management, and Procedure Innovations. Together, we will transform the lives of people with cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.

CARDIAC RHYTHM AND HEART FAILURE offers devices and therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well as cardiac diagnostic and monitoring solutions.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.
  • Define Receiving Inspection requirements as required and associated test method validation for all internal Medtronic Test Methods.
  • Responsible for Supplier/Part Setup and Management in multiple applications.
  • Collaborates with Component Engineering to develop and deliver the Product Acceptance Strategy, Approved Supplier List coordination, Supplier Owned Quality deployment, and Control Plans for new products
  • Coordinate the addition/change of New Suppliers to the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
  • Performs timely investigations into supplier quality issues. Lead activities related to Material Review Board (MRB), Nonconformance's (NCMR), CAPAs, sCAPAs and Inspections.
  • Responsible for the implementation of robust supplier control plans.
  • Lead implementation of Supplier Owned Quality (SOQ). Support SPC programs at the supplier and develops effective supplier monitoring strategies.
  • Support the execution of supplier audits and assessments of their processes on time with demonstrated effectiveness.
  • Support supplier change notices, and assessing their impact to MTC manufacturing operations, existing material inventory, acceptance procedures and part number configurations.
  • Stay abreast of applicable regulatory requirements. Actively seek out opportunities to understand current industry direction. Essential requirements analysis including standards review and evidence of conformity.
  • Applies understanding of statistical concepts to monitor suppliers and correct supplier quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the use of such tools as Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen. All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 0+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality

Nice to Have

Medical device industry experience.
Training in Lean Sigma and/or Design for Six Sigma is a plus.

Supplier Controls process knowledge and Experience.

Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.

Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.

Computer skills in MS Office and ERP systems desirable.
