Job summary

The IT Service Desk II position provides IT support and guidance all INOVIO employees. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and related equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. The person troubleshoots problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely, accurate fashion, and provides end-user assistance where required. Assists in leading the frontline support for IT and provides great customer service.

Essential job functions and duties


  • Assist, mentor, and collaborate with IT Service Desk teammates on issues relating to end-user PC, printers, conference rooms, telephones, and software issues.

  • Handle break/fix, configuration issues and troubleshooting issues.

  • Perform software installations, hardware repair (including in-house repair or coordination of warrantee services).

  • Process issues escalated from IT Service Desk I level positions.

  • Provide live and remote support for all computing devices, printers and teleconference rooms.

  • Set up, maintain and breakdown employee workstations.

  • Assist with all inventory management activities.

  • Interact with IT Telecom and Conference room vendors.

  • Document and execute change requests.

  • Escalate issues to IT Operations Manager when necessary, depending on the issue, the severity and the priority of the issue.

  • Build strong end-user relationships by keeping commitments and having a strong customer service-orientated approach to providing support.

  • Create, review, and update documentation on resolutions and troubleshooting.

Minimum requirements


  • Associate's degree in the field of computer science, MIS, computer information systems or information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

  • Preferred Certifications: A+, Network+, Security+

  • 2-3 years of related work experience in the field of Information Technology.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with deskside computer support.

  • Excellent technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware and hands-on hardware and desktop application troubleshooting experience.

  • Excellent technical knowledge of PC internal components.

  • Extensive equipment support experience with laptops, applications, and desktops.

  • Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical users.

  • Excellent customer service and oral and written communication skills.

  • Adhere to the IT department and Company's policies, procedures and established best practices.
