Overall Job Summary :

The Principal Cloud Architect is responsible for leading the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of BioTelemetry's cloud computing and DEVOPS initiatives. This position will have a focus on the design of systems and services that run on cloud platforms. The Principal Cloud Architect reports into the Director of Technical Services but would be embedded into the enterprise-wide Cloud-DevOps effort to provide architectural leadership and best practices across the BioTelemetry cloud computing environments.

Additionally, the Principal Cloud Architect will be responsible for evangelizing compliance to the Philips governance models, compliance frameworks and security best-practices. The role will provide guidance and direction in the migration from on-premises infrastructures to hyper-scaler clouds and consult on effective maintenance and business continuity activities. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience. 10 or more years' experience in designing large and complex IT operations in large healthcare related organizations is highly desired. The position also requires strong leadership and team building skills and must be able to collaborate effectively with a group of high performing individuals in multiple geographies across varied time zones.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrated ability to architect, design and implement enterprise-class AWS deployments using complex networking, compute, storage and AWS microservice offerings

  • Strong background in the deployment and operations of workloads on AWS using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), AWS Fargate, Kubernetes or others.

  • Strong understanding of on-premises infrastructure solutions to include VMware deployments and related compute, storage and networking platforms.

  • Proven experience transitioning from on-premises to cloud-native environments.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the full SDLC and Agile development methodologies and their relationship to cloud-native infrastructure

  • Experience with the development of CI/CD pipelines in conjunction with large-scale software development teams

  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) technologies such as JSON, YAML, CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.

  • Experience with code management tools such as Bitbucket, GitHub, etc.

  • Strong working knowledge of large-scale SSO authentication implementations

  • Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g., shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell)

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with executive level presentations using PowerPoint

  • Performing technical assessments

  • Other duties as assigned by the management team

Education and Experience Requirements):

  • Education: BA/BS degree or 15+ years of professional or military experience

Relevant Work Experience: 15+ years relevant experience

Licenses/Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge/Abilities -Technical Skills:

  • AWS, On-premises infrastructure, VMware, TCP/IP networking and knowledge of SDLC

Communication Skills (Verbal/Written): Clear verbal and written skills in English

Management/Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading people for a minimum of 3 years

Customer Service: WECARE - BioTelemetry based customer centric program
