Senior Counsel, Labor and Employment
The Senior Counsel, Labor and Employment is responsible for providing legal support and services to MTM and affiliate companies as assigned by the General Counsel. The Senior Counsel, Labor and Employment will serve as legal advisor to MTM’s People & Culture department, as well as other areas of the business, on employment and labor issues, investigations, matters, and proceedings.
Reporting directly to MTM’s General Counsel, the ideal candidate will:
Provide In-House Legal Counsel On Labor And Employment Related Matters: Provide in-house legal counsel on labor and employment related matters, which may include, but are not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour laws, workers' compensation, unemployment and other state agency claims, employee benefits, employment and severance agreements, policy related issues, FMLA matters, OSHA matters, employment related litigation, review of employment related contracts, and in-house training and education. Provide employment and labor law support on corporate transactions, integrations, restructures, policies, and employee-related agreements
Conduct Internal Investigations: Supervise or assist in the supervision and conduct of internal investigations of allegations of misconduct or unfair treatment
Manage Employment Discrimination: Manage employment discrimination, restrictive covenant, FLSA and other employment-related charges and lawsuits, including handling mediations and settlement negotiations, coordinating discovery and providing strategic direction to and close supervision of outside counsel
Perform Legal and Factual Research and Risk Analysis: Provide employment advice relating to various policies and programs, such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, hiring practices, and acquisitions
Support Corporate Compliance Initiatives and HR Projects: Provide advice regarding incentive compensation and other bonus programs. Provide expertise in the formulation and development of new policies and revision of existing policies; and provide expertise and advice in the implementation and application of policies. Qualifications include:
Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited school of Law and licensed to practice in Missouri
Minimum of seven (7) years of legal experience as a licensed attorney practicing labor and employment law in a law firm or comparable in-house setting
Experience in managing litigation and arbitration, as well as participating in mediations and settlement negotiations is required
Experience with legal research and analysis, fact-finding, and investigations is needed
Other Skills & Abilities:

Location:
This position is currently remote. Upon a return to the office, the role will be a hybrid of working from home and days in MTM’s office in Town & Country
