Job Description

A. GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

* Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the M&R Shop.

* Supervises ILA personnel through the ILA foreman in the repair and scheduled maintenance of Dole container equipment.

* Oversees the repair parts procurement programs and provides equipment and material status reports as required.

* Reports to M&R Manager.

B. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

* Schedule all shop repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades and miscellaneous equipment repairs.

* Supervises the ILA shop workforce through the ILA foreman.

* Insures all domiciled support equipment is maintained as per established preventative maintenance schedules.

* Responsible for shop safety equipment, safety practices and maintenance of a clean safe work area for shop personnel.

* Provides a weekly tire inventory report verifying on hand inventories of all tires. Manages the operation of the tire warehouse and tire storage area adjacent to the M&R shop.

* Insures compliance with all EPA requirements to include: proper disposal and documentation of waste material generated by the M&R Shop, monitoring of underground petroleum storage tanks, etc.

* Monitors repair order authorization forms completed by the M&R Parts Coordinator for accuracy and completeness.

* Maintains equipment records and reports as required.

* Makes recommendations for shop equipment requirements and facility upgrade needs for the M&R operation.

* Performs additional equipment related duties as prescribed by the M&R Manager

Required Skills

* Technical knowledge in the field of transport equipment, with emphasis on chassis repairs, diesel engines, refrigeration and container construction.

* Possess supervisory skills to direct efforts of the ILA workforce through ILA foreman to achieving high productivity and performance.

* Administrative experience to effectively oversee the parts procurement program.

* External: Various operation vendors

F. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

* Needs to have a background in equipment repair and maintenance

G. EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

* Will supervise the ILA work force through ILA foreman.

H. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Ability to function in an industrial environment.

* Ability to lift parts weighing 80 pounds onto and off part shelves at a five-foot height.

* Ability to climb ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, and climb onto and into intermodal equipment for inspection.

J. WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT

* Ability to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts preferred/required.

K. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

* Occasional travel to other terminals or to attend training at manufacture facilities.
