Special Inspector

Overview

Thoroughly knowledgeable regarding the standards related to the construction and inspection of: structural steel welding and bolting, structural masonry, concrete (cast-in-place, post-tensioned), soils, and/or asphaltic concrete. The candidate must be able to read and understand structural blue prints and current code requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide special inspection services, for public and private clients, for of one or more of the following: structural steel welding and bolting, structural masonry, concrete (cast-in-place, post-tensioned), soils, and/or asphaltic concrete. Drafting daily construction observation reports thoroughly detailing these services with respect to the contractor's compliance with the Contract Documents.

Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:
Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a minimum of 3 years' experience working in the construction quality industry, and good organizational skills. Must have a current valid driver's license and good driving record.
Compensation varies with experience and certifications. NV5 is in specific need of a PT concrete special inspector, though inspectors with other certifications such as masonry are encouraged to apply as well. DSA masonry certification would be a plus.

Certifications/Licenses:
Candidate must have appropriate card/certification for each qualified special inspection service.
Candidates must be certified by one or more of the following agencies:
* The International Code Council (ICC),
* American Welding Society (AWS),
* City of San Diego
* Division of State Architect
