Job summary

Working with the company's research and development leadership team, this position will support the development and life cycle management of INOVIO's preclinical products. This role will serve as a key interface between Inovio functional areas and also with external funding partners (e.g., Academia, Government, NGO). The candidate will be responsible for the facilitation of team meetings, management of timelines, and preparation of external funding proposals. The position will drive development of strategies as well as support the execution of program plans as a key interface of a number of cross-functional areas including research, manufacturing, engineering, clinical, regulatory and as such prior team leadership/project management experience with the process and stages of vaccine and therapeutic product development from discovery/pre-clinical to late-stage development is essential.

Essential job functions and duties


  • Manage preparation of external funding proposals and budgets in collaboration with key functional area leads

  • In collaboration with leadership of analytical and translational sciences groups support portfolio management to ensure data deliver to meet program timelines

  • In collaboration with SVP and R&D leadership team, drive discovery and platform development strategies that will lead to new immunotherapy candidates and platform enhancements. Outline and track goals based on strategies.

  • Provide leadership and direction between external product development partners and Inovio teams to drive successful partnership of discovery and early development programs

  • Provide leadership, direction and coordination across functional areas to drive creation and execution of integrated development plans to support the advancement of vaccine and immunotherapy candidates and associated projects

  • Create and monitor project plans and timelines, and update work plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements

  • Partner with the team to proactively Identify and highlight risks and issues within the project; work with the team to devise and implement effective risk mitigation strategies

  • Develop tools and processes to increase efficiencies of program management and program execution

  • Effectively communicating project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion

  • Facilitate and manage team meetings

  • Partner with functional area leaders on resource planning requirements for timely completion of projects

Minimum requirements


  • Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in science related field such as Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, Cell or Molecular Biology with an advanced degree strongly preferred (Ph.D., MBA)

  • Minimum12 years of pharmaceutical industry experience

  • Background in drug/vaccine/immunotherapy industrial product development

  • Strong relationship building, communications, and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong oral and technical/medical writing capability

  • Attention to detail and ability to interact effectively with management and prioritize diverse projects for multiple disciplines.

  • Project management professional certification is desired but not essential

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines

  • Ability to assess the inherent risks of a situation, their potential impact on a project and based on this information; independently make timely decisions
