Job Description


MISSION / SUMMARY:


This is a key manufacturing position with oversight of day to day operations, production improvements, ensuring the operational efficiency and safe operations of the Recycle area of the mill. They understand and align business operations and production as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.


JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.



  • Assist the area Superintendent in overseeing (4) Shift Engineers supervising approximately 20 hourly employees in the operation of the fiber process including 3 continuous Kamyr digesters and OCC plant.

  • Accountable for area performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPI's) to include: safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, quality and efficiency.

  • Drive safety to Zero injuries and support mill transition to safety focused culture.



  • Assist in establishing and direction of production operations in a safe and orderly manner providing quality products according to job schedules and customer specifications.

  • Develop, plan, and administer material and labor usage.



  • Establish and provide the operational expertise component of leading and managing our cultural change process, the strategic and forward-thinking capabilities in both the operational and human capital areas of the operation.

  • Assist in preparation of budgets and standards for cost measurement.

  • Determine training needs and administer appropriate training programs for salaried and hourly employees in each production area in the most reliable manner.

  • Assist in the creation/management of the KPI's and drive compliance to center lines.



  • Other duties as assigned.






Required Experience


BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:


2 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry.



EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:



  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering preferred.



SKILLS:



  • Multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines on a continuous basis.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word.

  • Strong team player and communicator

  • Proven ability to self-manage in a dynamic, fast paced environment.



SCHEDULE DEMANDS:



  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
