The Safety Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the health and safety of our employees is top priority. Duties include being able to anticipate, identify and correct issues involving safety and to work with all levels of employees to implement procedures that will prevent accidents and injuries. The Safety Supervisor will work directly with Operations Manager with support available from the Safety Manager, General Manager, and the Regional Safety Director.
Essential Functions:
Protect the health and safety of employees and decrease the potential risk of disease, illness, injury and exposures to harmful substances
Lead Behind the Wheel (BTW) and classroom training to maintain a pool of skilled drivers.
Provide leadership and coaching to reduce preventable accidents and inspire drivers
Establish all corporate safety programs and policies are implemented and followed
Implement training and inspection requirement for other enforcing agencies and/or certifying entities aligned with the Safety program
Monitor driver electronic logs for Megabus NE units (Elizabeth, NJ, Westampton, NJ, and Landover, MD) in coordination with Megabus NE Safety network.
Conduct Accident Investigations as advised by Safety Manager or Operations Manager
Conduct annual 19A reviews
Conduct company safety meetings and facility inspections
Ensure OSHA compliance
Conduct Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures and insure SWPPP compliance
Other duties as required.
Experience
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) "B" with a "P" endorsement plus any other endorsement needed to accomplish training of drivers. (REQUIRED)
Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Coach Association) safety regulations.
A clean MVR will be required.
Ability to pass and become a 19A certified trainer.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
Knowledge of Safety rules and Federal and State regulations for facilities and drivers
Flexibility to drive/cover Megabus routes and trips during busy periods as required by the Location Manager
