An award-winning teaching hospital located in upstate New York is currently searching for an experienced Cytology Technologist Specialist to join their accredited healthcare team.

The Cytology Technologist Specialist will serve as a specialist within their field and will assist in coordinating all functions of the cytotechnology department. The Cytology Technologist Specialist will report results, develop and monitor quality control and testing procedures, oversee proficiency testing, quality improvement, and maintains all regulatory requirements for the cytology area. The Cytologist will work regularly amongst other laboratory department staff to ensure the fluid operation and to enhance the quality of patient care.

The Cytology Technologist Specialist will perform cytological procedures and examinations including maintaining equipment and records and also performing quality assurance activities related to examination. The Cytology Technologist Specialist will work to provide prompt and accurate laboratory test results on cytological specimens to both medical providers and inpatient departments. The Cytology Technologist Specialist must have a Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology from an accredited cytotechnology program. This position also requires the Cytology Technologist Specialist to have certification as a Cytotechnologist in accordance with the New York State Department of Health Regulations.
