As the Assistant Head Miller,you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of the mill, including ensuring departmental adherence with Ardent Mills values, policies and procedures.Key areas of responsibilities are milling operations, mill maintenance, wheat cleaning and tempering, record keeping, sanitation, planning, coordinating, and communication. You will play a vital role in helping the plant team establish Ardent Mills as the preferred flour supplier in the region. You will be key in promoting safety, quality, milling efficiency, and helping achieve the company's goals and objectives.

Your responsibilities:
Identify operational discrepancies and provide focused solutions with a timeline for corrective action
Work with the milling team to continuously improve the production process, improve safety, reduce production costs, and enhance product quality
Ensure that mills are properly and efficiently maintained
Engage milling team to develop technical excellence in the areas of equipment design, process knowledge, mill flow, and project development
Collaborate with the Technical Milling group to establish effective technical milling training for appropriate segments of the workforce, as well as for new millers and interns
Provide support to all plant departments and engineering for new projects and advanced problem solving
Work with engineering and plant team in executing and commissioning of capital projects
Identify and define value added projects
Responsible for carrying out systemic changes as set by the Director of Milling
Collaborate with the Technical Milling group and through network of Subject Matter Experts, to ensure the strategic delivery of milling best practices and technology
Use published standard key performance metrics for the milling area to openly, positively, and constructively to improve operations through benchmarking
Reduce risk, reduce the process impact on the environment, and lower costs to improve operational efficiency
Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, quality specifications, safety standards, and sanitation practices
Essential skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of milling and leadership experience or High school diploma/GED with 5-6 years of milling and leadership experience
Demonstrated ability to create and modifyCAD drawings of mill layouts, equipment components and flowsheets
Basic knowledge of maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting cleaning, milling, and conveying systems
Basic knowledge of maintenance systems (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as is required by the operating areas (i.e. safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection and, at times, a respirator)
Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
Ability to work a machine paced continuous process that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with conditions which include:
Heat/cold temperatures (inclement weather)
Indoor/outdoor environment
Dusty environment
Noisy environment
Frequent moving/vibration/ or other motion of equipment/processes
Elevated places, to include stairs/ladders
Ability to perform work at a computer and other administrative/managerial tasks
Other considerations:
Ability to travel 5-15%
Willing to relocate as promotional opportunities exist throughout career
Willing to work weekends, holidays, 7-day weeks, and opposing shifts, when needed
Must be authorized to work in the Unites states without sponsorship now and in the future
