Job Description:

This position's primary responsibility is to provide coordination, teaching, and workshop facilitation to individuals and organization-wide MC*21 Management System activities through the use of Lean philosophy and principles. This individual will work under the direction of the VP Material and Lean Resources to prepare for Lean process improvement workshop events (RPI, 5S, other), independently assess, plan and lead workshop events, provide support to front-line teams in their understanding of performance opportunities, maintain in-depth performance tracking, and assist in the preparation of summary reports for leadership and other target audiences to support decision-making.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Working under the supervision of the VP Material and Lean Resources:

  • Conducts RPI, RPD, 5S, Value Stream and other events including up-front support for the assessment, planning, and post-event (sustainment) phases of Lean events to facilitate the change management process and produce positive outcomes.

  • Effectively communicates orally and in writing with diverse groups of people at the campus and system-wide level to share learning from workshop events.

  • Models the MC*21 Management System as the core management strategy and philosophy for MemorialCare through a commitment to change for the overall benefit of the organization.

  • Utilizes standard techniques and methods (specific to Lean and including financial, efficiency, quality, safety and experience/satisfaction related) to produce a robust tracking system for metrics for each workshop event. Applies Lean principles and methodology, and utilizes lean tools when aggregating and interpreting data.

  • Contributes to continuous learning and advancement system-wide and Lean Resources team member education and training through participation in the Lean Leader and Lean Fellow programs.

  • Contributes to the development of Lean Resources infrastructure and applies Lean principles in developing and maintaining MemorialCare Lean processes and tools.

  • Qualifications:

    • BA/BS degree in healthcare or business related field required; management experience preferred.
    • Applies creativity to design of workshop events to maximize the learning environment.
    • Collaborates in a team environment to produce positive outcomes; demonstrates the ability to influence, delegate, direct and collaborate with all levels.
    • Excellent technical, interpersonal, communication, facilitation and consensus-building skills in an individual who can work with diverse personalities and interact effectively with others.
    • Demonstrated service-orientation, with sensitivity to customer needs and who views the MC*21 Management System as vitally supportive to internal customers.
    • Proficient analytical skills; understands how data can be used to effectively change processes.
    • Demonstrates teaching proficiency in translating concepts, tools and methods to a variety of people.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work in an environment of ambiguity.
    • Proficient project management skills to deliver on deadline.
    • Working knowledge of calendaring (Outlook), spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (Word), database (Access) and graphical (PowerPoint & Visio) applications.
    • Successfully completes Lean Fellow certification requirements within development plan timeframe.
