Department: School of Public Health - CLIA Laboratory Project

Location: Brownsville, TX

Position Type: Full Time

Position Summary:

Assists with the day-to-day administrative project management and may provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity. This position will be assisting with the CLIA Laboratory project which deals with sample accessioning, patient information, and coordinating with a courier servcie for specimen drop off.

Position Key Accountabilities:


  • Assists with the day to day project management coordination for projects to include supplies in support of projects desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.
  • Assists in establishing contracts with entities that want CLIA testing services.
  • Identifies community clinics and other entities that may benefit from our CLIA testing services
  • Conducts accounting functions, such as reviewing billing information
  • Performs marketing functions such as making phone calls to entities and marketing CLIA Lab services.
  • Assists in establishing MOUs with current partners who want CLIA lab services
  • Keeps communication open with our partners and evaluates customer service to share with leadership for service improvement.
  • Enters data regarding patient information, testing, and results into multiple databases for statewide and system level tracking requirements.
  • Maintains confidential records of collected data, ensures accuracy and integrity of data and delivery of results. Data may include patient data and departmental programmatic data.
  • Prepares reports and communications for the campus and school leadership.
  • Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.
  • Provides administrative work, such as coordinating courier services, prepare purchase requisitions and submit to appropriate department for processing.
  • Assists with the sample accessioning as they arrive to laboratory
  • Other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:


  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

Preferred:

  • General computer skills with spreadsheets and databases. Certification or training in marketing, finance or accounting preferred.

Minimum Education:


  • Bachelor's degree or four years of experience in lieu of degree.

Preferred Experience:


  • General computer skills with spreadsheets and databases
  • Previous training in marketing, finance or accounting.

Physical Requirements:


  • Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
  • This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
