Job Description

This role will entail working with Agency Services Manager, constituents across SVB, participant banks and clients to ensure SVB's marquis high profile transactions are well supported and delivered best in class in market. Oversee the implementation and management of loans in Project Finance, Capital Call/Subscription Lines, Corporate and Leveraged Cash Flow deals.

Manages a portfolio of lead agency syndicated borrowing clients, serving as first point of contact supporting inquiries from sub-agents, SVB team members and participant banks related to client accounts. Agency Services Syndications Specialist will work as key member of the client-facing relationship team to provide exceptional service on day-to-day lead agency banking needs.

The Agency Services Syndications Specialists helps manage a portfolio of SVB lead agency syndicated borrowing clients and is responsible for deepening relationships to increase client satisfaction, and lender integration with participant banks. The Agency Services Syndications Specialists is considered the "eyes and ears" to SVB's high profile syndicated transactions.

The Agency Services Syndications Specialists will collaborate with Agency Services Manager and Head of Syndications and Syndication team members to help develop Silicon Valley Bank's Agency Services team and capabilities. As a specialist of the syndications team, this person will provide leadership and drive improvement projects where needed.

Proactive and clear communications are a critical required skill set as this Agency Services Syndications Specialists give guidance to team members, works with participant banks, partners closely with the SVB's Syndicated Lending team, as well as the bank's relationship management teams.

The Agency Services Syndications Specialists will be able to leverage their industry and banking and loan systems knowledge in managing the agency services function for a portfolio of syndicated credits, ensure smooth, efficient, and timely inter-bank notices and communications, review, provide feedback on, and help finalize loan documentation and final distribution.

Essential Functions

Syndicated Transactions Pre-Close


  • Serve as integral team member in reviewing loan documents at outset of transaction representing bank loan operations and lender interface and providing input on lender communications, closing items, treatment of LCs, Swinglines, Funding and Repayments and notification to lenders

  • Engage Middle Office, Sub- Agents BNY or WT (when utilized), or SVB Loan Operations to ensure smooth closings. Items may include:

    • Send email explaining the transaction

    • Distribute draft of Credit Agreement and solicit comments from sub-agents



  • Schedule and participate in "all-hands" call to walk team through the closing and funding process

  • Gather and check documentation from participants (admin details, W-9, etc.)

  • Create admin details forms for SVB

  • Review funding notices for accuracy

  • On occasion, will attend Bank Meetings to meet with lenders and company to play a lead role as face of SVB and develop as a key point of contact

  • Partner with Syndication Team & Loan Closers on internal components of closing and funding

  • Serve as liaison between SVB, participant lenders, and SVB internal systems (Middle office and Loan operations) during funding

Syndicated Transactions Post-Close


  • Manage collection, confirmation and posting of all reporting requirements (Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly)

  • Compile quarterly L/C fee calculations for deals serviced in-house

  • Ensure consistent, accurate interest fee calculations and payments for complex deals

  • Liaison for participant bank requests for re-sending notices, calculation discrepancies, research, etc.

  • Agency Fee invoice distribution

  • Occasionally asked to fulfill "sub-agent" type functions

  • Prepare and receive approval for closing fee payments via Accounting Worksheet

  • Responsible for filing Shared National Credit (SNC) with Federal Regulators

  • May be asked to share Syndicated expertise for various projects

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of Commercial Bank banking platform. Familiarity with general banking procedures and regulatory requirements including KYC.

  • Knowledge of On-Boarding practices; familiarity with standard procedures including document collection, expectation setting, training.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with clients across all levels (from CFOs to Accounting Clerk)

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma, Bachelors Degree a large plus.

4-6 years of related professional experience (banking/financial services industry or customer service) OR

7-9 years of overall experience

Bachelor's Degree desired and may be considered as 2-3 years overall experience

Preferred Education and Experience

Demonstrated client relationship building experience and/or client support in financial services and/or products.

Occasional travel may be required for Bank Meetings, to meet with Clients, and Lenders.

Physical Demands

The employee must have the ability to use a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, copier/fax machine, scanner and telephone. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Employee must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: reviewing and analyzing information; transcribing; and/or viewing a computer screen. Employee may be required to make quick decisions as to when to escalate or directly address a situation, as well as handle the stress of such situations. The work environment is indoors with a majority of time spent sitting at a desk.
