Job Description:

Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) has an immediate need for a Quality Control Supervisor for Wollaston Alloys Inc. in Braintree, MA, to join our team. Wollaston Alloys is a stainless steel and high alloy sand casting foundry that manufactures castings for military, commercial pump, valve and power generation industries.

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Quality Control Supervisor for our Wollaston Alloys foundry. The QC Supervisor is responsible for leading the administration of Data Assurance, Audits, MRB and Route Standards and any other functions to support the Quality Assurance Manager as business needs dictate. To ensure compliance to customer-specific specifications, requirements and mandates by contract flow down and/or design activities. The Quality Supervisor leads the department function under the Quality Assurance Manager, has oversight of quality engineers and will support quality control policies and processes in a union environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Understanding the quality goals and customer expectations for each part configuration
  • Working with the quality and process engineers to meet contractual and quality systems requirements 10%
  • Reviewing the customers' requirements (contracts and specifications)
  • Coordinating Data Assurance, MRB priorities 10%
  • Maintaining the MRB work center 5%
  • Maintaining scrap metrics
  • Maintaining IMS quality modules and reporting KPI as necessary
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the company quality system
  • Act as liaison with external parties on matters relating to the quality system. 10%
  • Supervision of department personnel. 15%
  • Participate and coordinate the FA process from the QA system and requirements prospective.
  • Interface with internal and external customers regarding nonconforming product, product quality and compliance, process compliance, and will assist in documenting and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in customer visits and attend to external process and quality audits-as required. 5%
  • Act as ECA for export license administration and MLAs as applicable. 10%
  • Participate in customer-provided training or industry-offered training seminars.
  • May require traveling to visit customers-as required.
  • Participate and coordinate internal audits, perform follow-up audits and assist in incorporating any changes and/or modifications to the QMS in concurrence with the approval of the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures
  • Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management

Qualifications:

  • Work experience in maintaining Quality Systems in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9000 and NADCAP.Additional course work in managerial type courses and problem-solving techniques preferable (i.e. Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process Control).
  • Three years' experience in casting manufacturing, supporting second tier suppliers (i.e. Parker, Honeywell and UTAS). These experiences should be gained in areas of engineering or
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 5 years quality control experience in an ISO 9001 (or other certified) manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with painted sheet metal (aluminum) is ideal.
  • Experience with gage calibration software is preferred.
  • Green or Black belt certification is desired.
  • ISO 9001 (TS 16949) experience.
  • Calibration experience.
  • Experience in a fast pace, high changeover job shop is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Knowledge of Inspection and Quality Controls methods, techniques and equipment.
· Proficient computer skills, especially with MS Office.
· Ability to read blue prints, use calipers, micrometers and tape measures.
· Good understanding of customer products and acceptance criteria.
· Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product/material identifications.
· Attention to details, excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and ability to meet deadlines.
· Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure.
· Effectively communicate with all departments, customer and vendors.
· Must be a hands-on supervisor who will roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
· Able to document and complete CARs.
· Ensure the safety of the employees in the department.

Work Environment:
· Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperature and other elements in the manufacturing and warehouse areas.
· Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.
· Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area.
· Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud.
· Regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
