Senior Data Scientist - Marketing Analytics (Python Exp.)

Cigna's Global Data & Analytics (GD&A), organized as a newly formed Center of Expertise (CoE), applies advanced Data Science (DS), Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to turn predictive insights into meaningful actions and to produce solutions that reduce customer health costs and improve outcomes and business processes to drive profitable growth, ultimately enable the enterprise vision of Affordability, Simplicity and Predictability. Using state of the art DS platforms, ML libraries, AI tools and optimization tools, we leverage internal, external, and online and offline data sources comprising Marketing Prospecting, customer, digital, clinical, provider & Rx data, and behavioral/attitudinal data. We are looking to hire Data Science practitioners who are well-versed in predictive modeling and optimization, who see a broader picture of AI and not just ML in Data Science, who can communicate with others with a statistical mindset, and can conduct exploratory analysis during data preparation and beyond.

This position is with Evernorth, a new business within the Cigna Corporation.

Role Summary:

Using your knowledge of ML / AI you will be responsible to build technologies and predictive models for supporting Cigna's marketing targeting optimization and customer contact strategies for prospect acquisition and retention, primarily for Government Business Segment products including Medicare Advantage, CSB and IFP. You will provide support to the GD&A vertical and GBS Marketing stakeholders to achieve enterprise goals and will be part of the core functional team to gather and develop / execute (coding) on business requirements. Your work will require deep acquaintance with Cigna's data and various external data, seeking to find ways to deliver value through advanced feature engineering and rigorous methodologies. From your models you will deliver actionable insights and solutions that can be incorporated into Cigna existing GBS Marketing products. You will be supporting all new and existing GD&A-owned models in support of the visions and strategies established by the Data Science Manager and Solution Director.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Strong coding skills (preferably in Python)

3 years' of working experience

Passion for creating technology to improve health care, with an attitude of creativity and continual learning, be highly motivated, flexible and embrace change.

Previous working experience of consumer prospecting data, including Acxiom and Infogroup / Data Axle.

Hands-on experience of predictive analytics and ML model development for marketing prospect and retention, attribution modeling for campaign effectiveness and product optimization.

Responsibilities:


  • Understand the business problem in Marketing and Customer domain, as well as GBS products, translate to sound analytical solution and data science framework, in order to generate value for the business, customers, clients, and identify critical questions and actionable insights that can be answered with DS or AI / ML.

  • Develops analytical and statistical models and methodologies to predict, classify, quantify, and/or forecast business metrics that help stakeholders make sound business decisions.

  • Responsible for the extraction and analysis of health care related information regarding customer and marketing.

  • Work closely with the data, including gathering from multiple data sources, cleaning, preparing/transforming, and exploring the data, filling in missing data values, determining outliers, regularizing and normalizing the data (e.g., names), engineering into features.

  • Explore and visualize the data using tools such as Python modules including pandas, matplotlib, bokeh, and Seaborn, Tableau, and Looker.

  • Develop, evaluate, test and document the models. Deliver clean, reusable, and scalable code.

  • Adopt QC best practices on data collected, analysis performed, and reports generated.

  • Write, present, generate plausible interpretations and make recommendations to stakeholders and facilitate decision-making.

  • Work with Data Engineering and business operations to deploy models, build data pipelines, and scalable systems.

Qualifications


  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or in any technical field that provides a solid basis for analytics or equivalent work experience

  • Previous working experience of consumer prospecting data strongly preferred, including Acxiom and Infogroup / Data Axle

  • Predictive analytics and ML model development for marketing prospect and retention, attribution modeling for campaign effectiveness. Prior experience in healthcare industry and Government products are highly desired

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and business consultation experience required

  • Excellent understanding/experience with leading machine learning methods including Supervised and Unsupervised Learning, such as KNN, Naïve Bayes, linear and non-linear regression, Logistic Regression, SVM, Lasso Regression, Elastic Net Regression, Boosting and Bagging, Random Forest, XGBoost, Association Rules, Cross Validation Method, forecasting, neural networks, deep learning, optimization.

  • 3+ years' experience with Python and its data science libraries such as Scikit-learn, Pandas, Keras, NLTK, Numpy and Seaborn through Jupyter or iPython notebooks. Experience with optimization and DS platforms such as Domino, Datarobot

  • Experience with Hive and database access languages such as SQL and storage platforms such as S3.

  • Experience with distributed computing platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, and Yarn, is a plus.

This role is WAH/Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
