Duties, Responsibilities & Other
Design and preparation of construction drawings for various electrical projects. Projects include: industrial, commercial, and public sector work.
Electrical knowledge includes but not limited to power distribution (normal and emergency systems, lighting systems and controls, power studies (short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies), renewable energy design, and special systems.
Must have general knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit preferred. Good communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Other software skills; Visual, AGI32, ETAP, SKM
Assist in the development of multiple projects and plans. These duties will be performed under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.
Performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment. Assignments usually include engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawing and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation. Helps to coordinate work of multiple engineering disciplines, as well as drafting/CADD work for the project. Assists in preparing progress reports and may supervise small projects.
Perform work for projects that may include master planning, existing facility evaluations, feasibility studies, design, cost estimating, and similar technical functions.
Develop design concepts, and provide technical direction for design of electrical systems with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
Prepare reports, plans, and specifications for assigned projects in compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and owner's project requirements.
Provide construction administration.
Support development of company electrical standards.
Responsible for the successful completion of assigned engineering scope and conformance to contract requirements.
Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate the technical and management aspects of projects within assigned engineering scope.
Responsible for both the quality of deliverables and effective execution of project assignments.
Responsible for technical accuracy of work performed in assigned engineering scope.
Coordinate with clients, facility owners, and subconsultants.
Maintain a positive work environment.
Capability to train and mentor staff members.
Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills. Must be a self-motivated dynamic individual.
EIT or PE certification preferred (ability to obtain PE within one year required)
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 - 4 years of design experience required.
Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
Performance Expectations
Complete Annual Individual Training Program
Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
Complete other duties as required/assigned
Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(80-85% typical)
Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
Compare field data to base plan
Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval
Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval
Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
Review and approve shop drawings
