Overview


The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a Research Project Manager for Translational Research who Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology Translational Research Program in the areas of patient consenting, sample processing, and data collection. The GI Oncology Translational Research Program supports various aspects of research for GI Cancers. This program is a bridge between clinical care and wet lab research and supports "bench to bedside" research. Projects that the program supports include the Hale Center for Pancreatic Research (https://halecenter.dfci.harvard.edu/), the OPTISMISTICC Research team through the Cancer Grand Challenges (https://cancergrandchallenges.org/teams/optimisticc), the Lustgarten Dedicated Research Lab (https://lustgarten.org/research/our-lab/), and many more innovative research projects.

The Research Project Manger (RPM) will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and overall management of various translational research projects. The RPM will maintain the projects from a regulatory and funding perspective including assistance with progress reports and new grant submissions. The RPM will manage the data associated with the translational research projects including the creation of databases (in Access, REDCap, and other database software), management of data entry by Research Data Specialists, preparation of datasets for analysis, and preparation of summary statistics.

Requirements


The Research Project Manager I will work independently under the supervision the Translational Research Manager. This position may be responsible for the following:


  • Responsible for day-to-day oversight and management of assigned projects.

  • Responsible for data abstraction coordination including the creation of new databases within Access, REDCap, etc., overseeing staff entering the data, and quality control of the data

  • Creation of data sets for analysis and preparation of summary statistics for the data.

  • Responsible for regulatory work for assigned projects including new protocol submissions, amendments, and facilitating Material Transfer Agreements / Data Use Agreements

  • Assist with the preparation of new grant submissions and progress reports in cooperation with the Grants and Contract Office

  • Responsible for setting timelines and action plans with various stakeholders within projects including Principle Investigators, collaborators, laboratory-based research staff, Research Data Specialists, and others

  • Responsible for scheduling research team meetings/ conference calls, creation of Agendas for meetings, and communication of relevant meeting minutes to the team

  • Assist with supervision of Research Data Specialist/Clinical Research Coordinator Staff




Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree required in a field relevant to clinical or translational research (MPH preferred), and 1-3 years experience in a related field including epidemiologic or clinical research.

  • Experience in an academic institution and proven history of success in clinical research field is preferred.

  • Experience with statistical software (SAS, R, etc.) and clinical databases (REDCap, Access, etc.) preferred.
