Minimum of two years' experience in a Medical Staff Services office.
Associates degree in business or health related field or an equivalent combination of education and management experience. Bachelors in health care related field preferred.
CPMSM or CPSC Certification by the National Associate of Medical Staff Services as well as affiliation with NAMSS and NYAMSS preferred or must be obtained within 3 years.
Thorough knowledge of medical staff credentialing and re-credentialing standards, quality assurance/quality improvement standards and peer review processes, as well as federal and state regulations regarding the healthcare industry preferred. Willing to train the right candidate.
Computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Internet.
Can think and act independently within established parameters of performance and make professional review determinations on the basis of information gleaned from a background check and quality assurance investigation.
Must be able to comprehend basic credentialing fundamental principles in order to proceed in verifying a comprehensive compilation of information to include peer review quality assurance information for each provider. This requires the ability to recognize performance variations from established standards and process this information through the Medical Staff review process for final determinations.
