This job is located in Cortland, NY.

The Project Engineer is responsible for performing testing and evaluation on a variety of lighting products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product performance/safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. Under the guidance of a more senior Engineer, may also conduct on and off-site evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s).
Duties:

• Mentor less senior engineers of the team
• ead and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test)
• Validate the project scope, sample applicability, and assist sales team with test plans/quoting
• Work with external client engineering teams on project scope
• Set up and operate / observe EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed
• Set up and operate standard test equipment
• Analyse, report, and review the collected data from the EUT
• Meet project completion deadlines

Qualifications

Qualifications

• achelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics
• 3-5 years directly related experience in automotive product development or certification
• Project management experience
• Experience with LED technology is preferred
• Demonstrated experience with U.S., Canadian, and other International automotive lighting safety and performance standards, i.e., ASTM, SAE, U.S. CFR Title 49, FMVSS 108, CMVSS 108, ECE Regulations, IES, etc.
• Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgements independently within established parameters
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Ability to travel 25%
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
