Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Material Handler to join our Performance Adhesives business at our Colton, CA. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the plan to deliver function. This position will report to Plant Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Proficient with Microsoft word and excel


• Proficient with SAP transaction codes


• Computer skills to navigate successfully to conduct business on carrier web sites


• Ensure that the correct, quality material is shipped on time in the proper quantity & containers and in conformance to customer instructions


• Verify that all the inbound and outbound materials match the information listed on Bills of Lading.


• Perform dock audits to assure materials are properly loaded and braced


• Ensure stock is rotated FIFO


• Verify the quality of all packaged materials prior to unloading trucks.


• Schedule inbound and outbound freight


• Review material availability with Material Manager.


• Monitor truck drivers while on company property to ensure safety procedures are understood and complied with.


• Ensure that shipping and receiving functions are performed in accordance with  quality system policies and procedures


• Ensure that certificates of analysis accompany the shipment when required


• Verify inbound materials contain a label with our material product code


• Must work well with internal and external customers


• Complete all safety training as required.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

• A minimum of a High School Diploma some college preferred


• 3-5 years in warehousing 


• 1-2 years working with SAP


• Must be able to lift 55 pounds


• Valid driver's license

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

• High School Graduate


• Forklift Certified


• 3-5 years of experience


• License/Cert
