What is it all about?


Illingworth-Kilgust's Service Manager is responsible for operations and sales of the HVAC-related mechanical services and equipment, including but not limited to Customized Service Agreements, service repairs, equipment retrofit projects and new construction. Some of the activities for this position are listed below:



  • Provide overall leadership for the division.

  • Manage division goals and ensure division and company goals align.

  • Responsible for seeking out and completing bid opportunities through client relationships, network opportunities, public and private postings, assigned bid opportunities, etc.

  • Develop growth strategies for the division. Drive expansion of sales and customer base.

  • Remain aware of the competition in the marketplace and be ready to adjust accordingly to changes.

  • Work to ensure all aspects of projects are met safely, on or under budget within the appropriate time frame allowed.

  • Support and direct employees on safety practices.

  • Introduce new processes and technology to the division and drive their implementation.

  • Monitor progress towards annual goals and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Directly oversee staff in assigned division. Set goals, review performance and develop staff to reach their potential.

  • In collaboration with the HR/Office Manager, ensure proper employee support or concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Determine and implement opportunities for margin enhancement and manage department budget. Bottom line responsibility for division profitability. Set and enforce margin structure for division, monitor sales and margins looking for slippage. Approve any divergence from standard margin structure.

  • Manage divisional Work in Progress (WIP) statistics and report on WIP statistics at monthly financial meetings.

  • Work to create processes and streamline work inefficiencies to create a well-functioning and efficient office.

  • Conduct divisional meetings.

  • Oversee Field Superintendent and provide guidance for field operation.

  • Develop good relationships with field staff to ensure strong project communication between project managers and field project leads.

  • Perform field activities and job site visits as required.


What you bring



  • Minimum 5 years of management experience.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, word processing and email applications.

  • Must have the ability to learn estimating and project management software.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to work with all levels of management, employees, vendors, and customers.

  • Speak effectively before groups as well as individuals.

  • Must have good interpersonal skills.

  • With access to proprietary and other confidential information, must be highly trustworthy and able to handle confidential information.

  • Willingness to travel between Milwaukee and Madison locations.
