The Payroll Specialist is part of a team that is responsible for the payroll processing for employees located primarily in California. This role supports internal customers with payroll questions and is responsible for ensuring that the semi-monthly payroll cycle deadlines are met. The payroll system used is UKG-Ultimate Kronos Group.


The Payroll Specialist job duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Work directly with Payroll Supervisor to ensure payroll processing and other related employee payroll functions are completed accurately and timely.

  • Assist with processing of semi-monthly payroll mainly for California employees, including special and off-cycle payrolls

  • Review upload and import of time and expenses into the payroll system

  • Assist with review and reimbursement of employee expenses.

  • Review processing of wage garnishments; child support, pay levies, and any other involuntary court-ordered payment in a timely manner and assist employees with general questions

  • Prepare various payroll related reports for departments

  • Maintain and set up new hires in time management and update as needed; perform a monthly staff check between time management and HR systems

  • Work with to Human Resources department to coordinate payroll related issues

  • Assist financial team with projects as needed

Required Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of payroll experience, experience with human resources/benefits related field is a plus

  • Ability to exhibit excellent customer service, integrity, and confidentiality when working with all financial and employee data

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, with strong proficiency in Excel

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
