If you are a MANUFACTURING SAFETY professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our RACINE, WI location, you will conduct audits, plan and administer safety programs, and provide training at the Racine manufacturing plant and distribution facility.  Responsibilities include assuring the work environment is managed to minimize employee exposure to health and safety risks. 

AS A SAFETY SPECIALIST, YOU WILL: 


  • Provide counsel to operations management and hourly employees regarding policy interpretation, safe work practices, application of plant safety rules, etc. 
  • Responsible for the ergonomic audits, review of work instructions, and the retraining of employees in proper job methods.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis and Personal Protective Equipment audits.
  • Assist in the development of company policies and procedures that comply with all mandated safety and health regulations.
  • Conduct periodic plant tours to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • In conjunction with the department supervision, investigate industrial accidents and recommend action to correct hazardous situations for compliance to OSHA requirements.

WHO YOU ARE:You research initiatives and try new approaches. You understand the importance and interdependence of internal customer relationships. You engage in collaborative planning.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor’s degree Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene/Safety, Environmental/Safety, Safety Engineering or related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable OSHA and related safety and environmental regulations is required. Familiarity with the Wisconsin Worker’s compensation Statute and case management in a self-insured facility.
  • Experience in word processing and spreadsheet applications to develop policy and perform analysis data is essential and usually acquired through vendor sponsored seminars and/or on-the job experience.
  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene/Safety, Environmental/Safety, Safety Engineering
  • Experience conducting ergonomic audits, Job Safety Analysis and Personal Protective Equipment audits.
  • Knowledge of mechanical power presses, machining, automated equipment, and foundry operation. 
  • Experience in auditing EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
