Position Title: Data Engineer II, Data Science

Role:

As a Data Engineer, you join a team responsible for applying data science and machine learning techniques to deliver business value at Crown Castle. You will play a critical role in building efficient, supportable, and scalable data pipelines to serve a variety of business use cases. The data engineer collaborates with senior data engineers, data scientists, subject matter experts, and other data consumers to build ETL and ELT data pipelines. As a data engineer in the data science team, you will have the opportunity to apply your foundational knowledge of machine learning algorithms to convert models developed by data scientists into production grade executables.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze business problems and create data solutions. 


• Create big-data pipelines to feed machine learning algorithms. 


• Deploy machine-learning models to production and monitor them over time. 


• Process and clean large datasets into a format suitable for machine learning. 


• Maintain a readable and reusable code base. 


• Own projects and see them through from idea to deployment. 


• Communicate with technical and business teams about data engineering solutions. 


• Supply accurate task level of effort estimates to leadership. 


• Seek practical methods to optimize data pipeline cost, efficiency, and supportability.

Education/Certifications   

• BS Degree in Math, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other qualitative discipline 


• Cloud Data Engineering or Data Science Certifications are a plus (ex. AI-102, DP100, DP203) 

 

Experience/Minimum Requirements   

• 3+ years of experience delivering data solutions 


• 2+ years of experience with one or more big data tools: Databricks Delta Lake, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc. 


• Experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based data stores to manage data  


• 2+ years of experience with cloud data engineering in Azure, AWS, or GCP 


• 1+ years of experience using cloud data pipeline orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory 


• Advanced knowledge of SQL 


• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala 


• Working knowledge of API frameworks, OData protocol, and stream-based data acquisition methods 


• Fundamental knowledge of parametric and non-parametric machine learning algorithms. 


• Experience deploying machine learning models into production is a plus 


• Crown Castle is a federal contractor, and the COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of employment by your start date to comply with Executive Order 14042.  

   

Working Conditions:  This is a remote role with the expectation of on-site/in-person collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter and may require up to 10% travel.
