Alnylam Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Manager,US Benefits to join the Total Rewards team to provide expertise, guidance, and support to the US organization. Reporting to the Associate Director of Benefits for the Americas, the US Benefits Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day benefits administration, compliance adherence, vendor relationships and manage our annual Open Enrollment process, while ensuring operational efficiencies and providing excellent customer service. The role will have the opportunity to be part of ongoing evaluation of new innovative and relevant programs as well as the effectiveness of current programs to ensure our offerings are competitive and innovative to match our employee needs.

Summary of Key Responsibilities


  • Work as part of the Global Benefits team to support and manage all aspects of U.S. benefits, including but not limited to Health, Life and Disability insurances, 401(k), Commuter, Tuition assistance, Tax-favored accounts, Supplemental programs, and Wellbeing initiatives.
  • Ensure programs are competitive and engaging and provide an optimal employee experience aligned with our culture.
  • Manage relationships with our consultants, brokers, and vendor partners, as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all U.S. health and welfare plans are compliant with federal statutes under the PPACA, ERISA, DOL (COBRA, FMLA, ADA), and IRS. U.S. compliance requirements include keeping plan documents and SPDs up-to-date, Form 5500 filings, disseminating required communications and documentation to employee population (e.g., Forms 1095-C, SARs, SPDs), and provide data and submit filings for various federal and state requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for benefits and wellbeing programs through understanding our employee mindsets, engagement, benchmarking, and best practice.
  • Manage external leave of absence administrator to ensure appropriate processes are in place including compliance with city, state, and federal regulations, filing of disability claims, and providing guidance to employees.
  • Oversee employee Oracle HRM experience from onboarding through Open Enrollment and provide regular management reporting of key HR metrics.
  • Serve as the HR and IT liaison for all HRIS updates, issues, troubleshooting and resolutions.
  • Provide project management for implementations and programmatic changes.
  • Responsible for maintaining benefits information on internal intranet site.
  • Collaborate internally with key functions such as Employee Relations, HR Services, Payroll, Finance, our Employee Resource Groups, and others.
  • Reconcile and process benefit plan bills for payment.
  • Resolve benefit claims issues raised by employees and vendors.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of hands-on US benefits experience including benefit design and administration principles, laws, and practices. Familiarity with pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and SECTION 125.
  • Ability to thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills including the ability to work with data to provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Ability to lead projects and be highly collaborative.
  • Proficiency in MS suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint as well as advanced Excel (pivot tables, vlook-ups, etc.) knowledge, experience with Oracle HCM a plus.
  • Experience in Life Sciences industry a plus, but not required.
  • If employed in the U.S., being full vaccinated against COVID-19 as definated by the Centers fro Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is required. If employed in the U.S., being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as definated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) is required.

Location: This role is hybrid with some time (average 3 days/week) based in our Cambridge, MA office.
