Functional Description

Designs and monitors systems to detect, respond and prevent attacks or attempts to compromise company information assets, infrastructure or applications. Defines security runbooks to facilitate the analysis and reporting of security events. Analyzes potential security events to determine if there is a threat to the environment. Performs forensics to determine scope, impact, and root cause of security incidents. Manages vulnerability management systems and drives remediation of identified vulnerabilities. Conducts penetration tests to validate defenses and to detect undiscovered vulnerabilities. Conducts risk assessments to identify, classify and remediate cybersecurity risks. Communicates risks to influence business partners to improve cybersecurity posture. Provide consulting and coaching to partners to enable informed risk management decisions. Conducts threat hunting activities to discover latent threats or intrusions in the network. Monitors and maintains security systems including endpoint, network, cloud security systems. Manages security log collection and event management systems and develops correlations or scripts to detect anomalous or malicious behavior. Develops security operations processes, documentation, metrics and reporting. Reports on operations, investigations, threat hunting, penetration testing or forensics activities. Develops automation and scripts to automate security activities. May provide technical work direction and/or leadership of other analysts.

Responsibilities

• Assess the vulnerabilities present in our environment and determine prioritization and impact to our business on the systems supported by the infrastructure team including but not limited to laptops, Mac books, network and server infrastructure


• Provide guidance to the team on the remediation of the vulnerabilities as well as coordinate patching and roll out plans.


• Monitor Alerts generated by the SIEM and respond and escalate accordingly


• Suggest and implement improvements to our security monitoring tools


• Work on Security projects to improve the organizations security posture


• Maintain procedures for the patching process and provide feedback on standards, guidelines, and vulnerability assessment methodology framework


• Assist in the security assessment of existing and newly proposed tools used by team

Requirements

Preferred Requirements

• Practical understanding of network protocols and operating systems


• Broad understanding of security vulnerability mitigation solutions at all layers


• Ability to analyze large data sets to identify trends/anomalies within a SIEM


• Solid Splunk knowledge performed in a SOC like environment a plus


• Awareness of the current threat landscape


• Experience with Qualys, Microsoft Intune, JAMF, and other vulnerability scanning and remediation utilities a plus


• Curious and enthusiastic learner


• Excellent verbal and written communications skills


• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills with a strong attention to detail


• Ability to collaborate with personnel at all levels across the organization and to comprehend business imperatives


• Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload and balance multiple duties and work in a fast-paced environment

Experience and Education

• Typically requires a Bachelors degree and a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience.

Workplace Type

• The Workplace Type for this role is Assigned Desk. Â Based on the nature of your role you will have an assigned desk or office located at a Dexcom site and should plan to be onsite approximately 4-5 days per week.
