JOB TITLE: Assistant Quality Manager Heat Treat and Metallurgical

Department: Quality

Job Status: Full time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Quality Director

Positions Supervised: Quality Team

POSITION SUMMARY

Essential Functions Statement(s)


  • Maintains and reports product conformance to engineering and customer specifications through inspection of raw materials, work in process and finished goods inventories.

  • Reviews production processes for conformance to quality standards.

  • Reports and tracks any significant deviations from quality standards and recommend corrective action to appropriate management.

  • Establishes and presents regular training for employees on quality issues, and develops programs to encourage each employee to perform quality control as part of operations.

  • Reports to Senior Management on the status of the Quality Management System on a Weekly, Monthly, and Semi-Annual basis.

  • Participates in new product development to ensure proper quality assurance and control plans can be implemented prior to beginning production.

  • Determines validity of customer complaints.

  • Manage the corrective action process, and implementation of countermeasures.

  • Completes quality surveys received from current or potential customers.

  • Maintains ISO/TS16949 quality system and completes audits to maintain certification and continuous improvement.

  • Completes customer audits to ensure all customer guidelines and processes are being met.

  • Responsible for Supplier Quality Management

  • Performs scheduling and prioritization of all QC department activities.

  • Ensure that any needed calibration is completed and recorded.

  • Lead and direct Quality Team to meet company targets.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: 3 - 5 years Tier 1 automotive supplier experience (Japanese plant preferred)

Computer Skills:

Certificates & Licenses: ASQ Certification (CQM or CQE)

Other Requirements:


  • Must be highly organized and productive in nature

  • Must be familiar with ISO/TS16949, and IATF16949

  • Must have prior quality control experience in related industry

  • Must be able to read blueprints

  • Must have strong MSA and calibration knowledge

  • Emphasis of position is heat treatment and/or metallurgy

  • Metals Science or Engineering experience

  • Knowledge of Induction Heating Process

  • Knowledge of Microstructure for Ferrous material

  • Must be effective at planning and project management

  • Must have proven leadership skills and a track record of managing a quality team

  • Must have excellent communication skills - especially with English as a second language members
