Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Actively performs administrative, monitoring and diagnostic functions in the Power BI Service platform ensuring a health environment and smooth operation for approximately 3000 users.

  • Monitors Power BI Service and Power BI Gateway performance using audit log data, and analyzes usage data and trends to derive appropriate courses of action to ensure the system is performing optimally

  • Monitors the users in the Power BI environment to ensure they are following recommended best practices and policies; and provides feedback to the business community when deviations occur.

  • Ensures that the Power BI Service is secured from external intrusions, and that Arthrex’s network is protected from threats potentially exposed through Power BI Service while following Arthrex security protocols

  • Keeps up with the latest Power BI features in the desktop software, service and adjacent Microsoft tools; and through collaboration with Data & Analytic team members determine which features and capabilities should be enabled/disabled in our environment.

  • Researches and evaluates best practices for Power BI configurations, implementation and system utilization and maintains and optimizes Power BI Tenant and Capacity settings.

  • Leads the effort to drive support issues to conclusion including the escalation and redirection of problems requiring urgent attention to appropriate resources.

  • Assists in management of software and analytical tools upgrade roadmap decisions and planning.

  • Has expert knowledge of industry best practices and uses that knowledge to support and transition the Power BI environment to best in class configuration

  • Manages Power BI PRO licenses while ensuring counts are within the respective license allowance and notifies parties before license provisioning becomes an issue.

  • Provides status reports and notifies management of ongoing/unresolved issues, escalations, ongoing trends that can lead to deeper issues

  • Anticipates system issues and helps resolve them before they occur or impact a large number of users and/or critical business functions.

  • Actively works to automate repetitive tasks in system maintenance.

  • Builds and maintains detailed documentation and diagrams of hardware & software architecture.

  • Is available outside normal business hours, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage, as necessary. (shared responsibilities with team)

 

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree required; CS / MIS preferred. Master’s degree preferred

  • 2+ Years Power BI Service, Gateway and Capacity Administration

  • 5+ Years experience managing and administering software & hardware configurations of enterprise scale software (business intelligence preferred) environments

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:


  • Ability to visualize and understand technical architectures and their dependencies, potential impacts on each other.

  • Strong analytical & business acumen

  • Strong Windows Server config and use skillset.

  • Good experience using Power BI desktop to create data models, datasets and reports; preferred

  • Good experience using Power BI add-in tools such as DAX studio; preferred

  • Good experience or knowledge with SQL Server Analysis Services SSAS or Azure Analysis Services AAS

  • Strong time management, organization skills, and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities.

  • Strong team player, but also able to work and focus independently and be self-directed on projects.

  • Strong attention to detail and highly focused on quality of work, over quantity.

  • Partners with database administrators, developers, management, system users and software/hardware vendors to ensure the best outcomes for Arthrex’s analytical environment and integration with adjacent tools such as TEAMs.

  • Follows best practices, champion standards, and always strive for continuous improvement in everything you do

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Strong ability to develop organized and clear documentation.

  • Proactively researches, consults, and recommends technology enhancements, always seeking improvement of the analytics environment.

  • Highly motivated to continuously improve own abilities and skills.
