Overview

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with about 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is seeking a full time Medical Technologist to work in Detroit, Michigan.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a clean background extending back more than 7 years plus 2 or more years of prior experience as a Medical Technologist with a focus on phlebotomy.

Total paid hourly compensation: $21.48 per hour

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Work in the Specimen Processing section of the laboratory and draw blood from patients for analysis


• Verify the patient as the individual denoted on the lab request and label all tubes accordingly


• Specimen collection including but not limited to blood, urine, legal drug screens, and other body fluids, bone marrow collection


• Use and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, refrigerators and freezers


• Receive, process, and pack for shipment varied clinical specimens for reference laboratory testing


• Perform various tests, analyses and examinations to support the mission of the Clinical Laboratory


• Perform data input and retrieval of test results


• Function as a resource person and troubleshooter for clinic personnel in executing order entry options


• Train new personnel in proper use of the laboratory equipment


• Adhere to safety, infection control and universal precautions at all times


• Assure correct quality control measures are incorporated into all procedures


• Physical Requirements: Work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as standing, bending, lifting objects.


• Other laboratory-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the SJS Program Manager/Supervisor.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or similar degree from an accredited college or university


• Proficiency in phlebotomy


• Two (2) or more full years of prior career experience as a Medical Technologist, preferably within a hospital or major large medical center


• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test plus a background check that extends past 7 years to enable access into federal buildings


• Must be willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and influenza to perform work within a hospital setting


• Veteran hiring preference, but all applicants are welcome.
