Kean University also operates a unique, additional location in Wenzhou, China.
The
Equity in Action Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed to increase the diversity of Kean University's faculty. Kean seeks to attract promising researchers, clinicians, and educators from different backgrounds, races, ethnic groups, and other diverse populations whose life experiences, research experiences, and employment backgrounds will contribute significantly to Kean's academic mission and enhance the environment and learning opportunities for all Kean students.
Kean is seeking scholars who reflect the rich diversity of our student body, whether based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, gender, neurodiversity, disability, or otherwise. There are two ways you can contribute meaningfully to our mission to advance equity as a fellow: by virtue of your personal identity, or through scholarship explicitly focused on advancing equity, expanding access to those historically excluded from the academy, and promoting a sense of belonging for all.
Fellowships may be awarded for postdoctoral training in any field of study at Kean. Successful candidates will receive a two-year Lecturer appointment with a reduced course load designed to provide ample opportunities for highly mentored scholarly and research training.
For the second cohort of Equity in Action fellows, we are specifically seeking:
Hispanic/Latinx/Latine/Chicanx and Black/African-American scholars across academic disciplines;
Female, nonbinary, and genderqueer scholars for the College of Business and Public Management;
Fellows for the Occupational Therapy program at Nathan Weiss Graduate College;
Fellows for the School and Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at Nathan Weiss Graduate College;
Fellows for the Dorothy and George Hennings College of Science, Mathematics and Technology.
These priorities are based on data analysis, student feedback, self-reflection, and holistic needs assessments by each college, program, and department. Despite these priority areas, all outstanding scholars are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, Kean seeks applications from scholars from a wide range of academic disciplines to serve as fellows in any of the University's current academic programs. Applicants must have completed either a doctoral program, dissertation defense or earned a terminal degree by July 1, 2022.
Appointments
Consistent with the University's current labor agreement, fellowship appointments are for a single, non-renewable two-year period. Fellows demonstrating superior performance will be given priority consideration for appointment to a tenure-track faculty position at Kean at the close of the fellowship period.
Compensation
Fellows for the 2022-2023 Academic Year will receive an annual salary starting at approximately $67,000 (with an anticipated 2% increase shortly after the start of the Academic Year). Additionally, each fellow will receive an annual stipend to support their scholarship and related academic pursuits. Faculty housing may be available to fellows to rent, depending on availability. A comprehensive benefits package is included. Fellows are covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and may have access to additional benefits through their union.
Application
Please submit your curriculum vitae. In addition, all applicants are required to complete this Google Form which includes supplemental information for their application. Official transcripts for all degrees are required before appointment.
Applications will be accepted and reviewed on an on-going basis through February 1, 2022. Interviews and offers will be made through April 1, 2022. Start dates will be late August to early September, 2022. The University's Equity in Action Fellowship Advisory Committee will determine the distribution of fellows across academic programs based on strength of individual applications, the composition of the applicant pool, and ongoing assessment of institutional need.
