MULTI-OMICS MACHINE LEARNING & PIPELINE DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Kalamazoo, MI

Internship Summary:

The ideal candidate is expected to understand biology, interfacing with computer programing and statistics to develop methods to analyze complex multi-omics projects

Internship Job Duties:

• Work with biologists to understand and improve disease-model associated omics data


• Research and development of novel machine learning algorithms for understanding disease biology


• Apply statistical and machine learning methods to analyze multi-omics datasets


• Establish and develop reproducible pipelines for data analysis


• Communicate technical results and methods clearly

Internship Qualifications:

• Working toward a graduate degree in biology, computational biology, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, applied physics, or similar fields


• Demonstrated experience applying analytical and predictive methods to understand complex biological data


• Proficient in either R/Shiny or Python


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Enrolled in a degree program during the Spring term preceding internship


• At least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.


• Successfully pass a background check and drug screen


• Strong communication, problem solving & analytical skills
