ITHAKA is seeking a Fellow, Innovation who is interested in developing their innovation and product/service design skills within the domain of library and scholarly communications. As a learning organization, this is a learning role - the Fellow, Innovation will be supported and mentored in their work to the end of the employment term. In this role, you can expect to gain business modeling, brainstorming, design thinking, user research and prototyping skills.


In this six-week engagement, the Fellow, Innovation will spend the first half in workshops, guest lectures, and hands-on experiential learning. Then in the second half, you will help generate and develop innovative ideas for ITHAKA and test them through design thinking, user research, customer development, experimentation and prototyping, to inform JSTOR’s strategic planning. The Fellow, Innovation will be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week for a six week period from July 5 to August 12, 2022. This position reports to the Manager, Discovery & Research and has contact with various departments/areas. 


 


Experience and Education


  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience in at least one of the following fields: Design, Library Science, Computer Science, Business, and/or Humanities (especially digital humanities).

  • Domain knowledge of scholarship, education, library science, and/or publishing is nice-to-have.

 


Skills and Abilities



  • Comfortable with uncertainty; able to make forward progress when there is a large list of unknown variables.

  • Curious, unafraid of failure, entrepreneurial, and creative.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Embraces and reinforces ITHAKA’s core values in all aspects of the work.

Base pay may vary with job-related knowledge, skills, experience, market location, and geography.
