Summary

"MCLC" (currently a division of LSC Communications), after the acquisition of LSC by Atlas Holdings, LLC in late 2020, is evolving into a stand-alone $1+ billion private magazine and catalog printing, services and logistics company. We plan to go to market in 2022 under a new name, as we rapidly improve operations and profitability. Reporting to the Vice President of Sourcing, the Category / Supply Chain Development Leader will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a mix of critical direct and indirect categories in a ~$1B magazine and catalog printing business with operations spread across 7 primary facilities in the Eastern half of the United States.

The leader in this role will / will be:


  • Develop world class category / supply chain strategies which deliver on all aspects of total cost and differentiate MCLC with its customers.
  • Own the supplier relationships for assigned categories of paper, ink and others as needed.
  • Develop strategic sourcing plans: long-term agreements, annual contracts, spot buys, etc. Includes exit strategies for unsuccessful categories.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the supply base as it maps to MCLC's global demand.
  • Work with internal partners and cross-functional team members in accordance with the category strategy to drive supplier selection, development, and performance.
  • Identify potential gaps in MCLC's overall sourcing approach. Provide recommendations to address those potential gaps including contingency plans & risk analysis.
  • Drive for consolidation of suppliers & standardization wherever possible.
  • Development of preferred, diverse suppliers and those with track records of best in class sustainability within their industry.
  • Optimize the various infrastructure / asset platforms within the company for critical make vs. buy decision making and the attainment of customer service goals.
  • Lead and execute complex contractual relationships.
  • Understands all market aspects of assigned commodities and is recognized as the global industry expert. Provide category insights and proposals to MCLC leadership as needed.
  • Be capable of working at all levels within the company, supply base, and end customer businesses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Operations Management OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of Sourcing & Category Management experience
  • Knowledge of the printing industry is valuable but experience in an industrial / light manufacturing environment required.
  • Expert knowledge of purchasing, purchasing systems for direct and indirect materials
  • Track record of strong negotiations, developing sourcing strategy and delivering results
  • Experience supporting plant operations, supporting make/buy decision making, and cost modeling/should-costing tools
  • Possess an understanding of industry quality standards
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and working in an ERP environment (SAP preferred)
  • Coordination, facilitation, consultation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing and able to travel 20% - 30% (predominantly eastern US)
  • Able to consistently contribute effort, leadership, and creative thinking to solving complex and significant problems in a collaborative fashion.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to work concurrently on multiple complex and sometimes ambiguous problems.
  • Able to communicate complex concepts, problems, and solutions clearly and effectively to all levels within the organization.
  • Able to communicate in an effective and approachable style that engages others and builds credibility. Able to provide rationale when delivering complex or challenging information.
  • Able to determine the most appropriate medium when conveying information to large groups or to reinforce a message.
  • Atlanta, Chicago, or proximity to a significant facility in IL, IN, PA, KY or TN is preferred.
