This role is remote.

Responsibilities

Every day Platform Operations is busy building Equinix Metal’s infrastructure at multiple remote data centers around the world. We enroll, configure and maintain the hardware that makes up Equinix Metal’s interconnected bare metal cloud.  We are working with a large number of hardware elements, so creating efficient, repeatable, automated processes are a must.  Working closely with other operations and engineering teams and documenting technical procedures and processes that can be implemented with automation are key to being effective.

As a bare metal specialist, you'll learn how to use our internal staff level tools and become comfortable diagnosing hardware, software, and networking issues. You'll work with our engineering teams to add features that help us deliver outstanding service to our user community.

Day to day under the direction of Platform Operations Management you will:

• Work to continuously improve the operational readiness of the Equinix Metal platform.




• Develop technical solutions to automate management of the Equinix Metal platform. 




• Document new processes for Platform Operations engineers.




• Escalate and track technical requests to the appropriate engineering teams.




• Collaborate with engineering teams as a representative of Platform Operations.

What we’ll expect from you:

• Passion for datacenter infrastructure and hardware.




• Superb remote communication on zoom meetings, chat and online documentation.




• An innate desire to standardize processes and create related operating procedures.




• Knowledge in areas of scripting and coding including BASH and Go.




• Knowledge of using APIs to build automation tools.




• Solid understanding of operating system fundamentals.




• Working knowledge of networking.




• A willingness to learn and grow with the Platform Operations team.

Qualifications

• Superb communication skills




• Strong technical skills as a DevOps practitioner




• An innate desire to standardize work flow and process, create related documentation, and training materials




• A solid grasp of operating system fundamentals




• A passion for all things networking including OSI Model and BGP




• A strong customer focus and passion for problem solving




• Knowledge of server hardware and infrastructure - we're all about bare metal servers after all!

In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for Colorado for this role is $113K - $153K per year with 20% bonus target.
