Primary Role



Responsible for supporting L&D programs, initiatives, and deliverables that impact business outcomes through collaboration, organization, governance, and communication.





Key Accountabilities




  • Collaborates with the Senior Director, Employee Experience and Talent Development to support performance and learning programs.


  • Support the identification and design of learning solutions.

  • Supports all company learning and development programs and resources.

  • Support the Learning Advisor to identify, develop, and deliver programs that support the growth of our employees.

  • Develops and manages L&D’s governance model for L&D activities with guidance from the Sr. Dir., EX and TD.

  • Partners with Internal Communications to develop L&D 12-month marketing campaign.

  • Work with the Learning Advisors to roll out an internal learning and development roadmap for all employees

  • Support the development of customized learning paths for employees that incorporate customized and curated learning content

  • Contribute to the course catalog which will include e-learning, instructor-led courses, and hands-on workshops, to ensure the trainings are accessible to everyone

  • Own the L&D metrics and provide feedback to the Learning Advisors on programs and courses for continuous improvement




Knowledge/Skills




  • Interest in developing skills in adult learning theory and Instructional design while applying those lessons to new learning content 

  • Strong communication skills; graphic arts/marketing/design experience a plus

  • Nice to have:  Experience with instructional design and developing learning content

  • Passion for supporting team members growth and development while helping to build a learning culture 

  • American Water’s Organizational and Business Strategy/Goals/Objectives, etc. (operations and functions) 

  • Microsoft office suite of products including PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, and Excel as well as Adobe suite of design applications, Office 365.

  • Working knowledge of learning programs and courses in an LMS

  • Working knowledge of creating, running and distributing standard and custom learning reports in LMS

  • Knowledge of SAP’s Success Factors preferred

  • Knowledge of mobile operating systems IOS and Android.




Experience/Education




  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

  • 0-2 years of work experience in the areas of training delivery, instructional design, or learning technology
