Job Description:

City Experiences is seeking a Tram Driver for our Alcatraz City Cruises operation in San Francisco.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The driver is directly responsible for using the TRAM efficiently and safely on Alcatraz Island. This includes friendly and professional service to visitors, proper maintenance of the TRAM, and expert driving to provide comfort and minimize hazards. The tram driver also manages the boarding lines and all crowd control responsibilities at the Alcatraz dock.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Drive tram safely, according to driving guidelines outlined by NPS Standard Operating Procedures 

  • Prepare SEAT for daily operations prior to beginning of the shift. 

  • Assure that all daily maintenance and safety checks are performed and logged, reporting all maintenance requirements to Supervisor, within specified time frame. 

  • Actively monitor and maintain a safe environment for visitors riding the tram and de -boarding. 

  • Maintain, within safety guidelines, SEAT arrival and departure schedules 

  • Advise visitors, as necessary, of site safety 

  • Strictly follow driving guidelines outlines in the National Park Service SOP 

  • Manage the boarding and offloads of departures and arrivals; assure that boats depart in a timely manner. 

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Must have a valid, state-issued Driver’s License 

  • Must have clean driving record 

  • Must have 2 years customer service experience 

  • Must demonstrate good driving skills

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including conflict resolution skills

  • Knowledge of another language in addition to English is preferred
