Position Description:

The successful and highly motivated candidate will support the in vivo pharmacology research program to perform pre-formulation work, develop formulation study, execute analytical test methods, organize the data and summarize related reports.

Position Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct preformulation assessment studies of various small molecule drug compounds
• Select suitable formulations and prepare test articles as required to support PK, PD, efficacy and toxicology studies
• Evaluate and characterize the physical and chemical behavior of drug product formulations, including stability tests and force degradation studies
• Develop or modify, as required, any analytical methodology required to understand and characterize formulations or drug candidates
• Keep accurate laboratory data records and summarize data as needed
• Adhere to good health and safety practices and compliance with applicable EH&S rules and participate in mandatory safety training programs

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in a related chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, biology discipline and two to four years of related experience; or
• Master's degree in a related chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, biology discipline and zero to two years of related experience; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
• Two or more years of experience in pharmaceutical development, preformulation, formulation and/or analytical development preferred.
• Experience with preparing various types of dosages such as oral, parenteral (injectable solution or suspension) and other formulations for drug delivery systems is required.
• Hands-on experience with analytical instruments including UPLC/HPLC, DSC, TGA, XRPD, particle sizing measurement, optical microscopy, etc.
• Excellent data analysis skills and experience with a variety of scientific/statistical software applications is preferred

Knowledge/Skills:
• Proficiency with computers including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel is required
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and written/verbal communication skills
• Deep knowledge of solid-state characterization, liquid formulation development and drug delivery
• In-depth understanding of pre-formulation, formulation, biopharmaceutics principles required to get a drug from discovery through clinical development is desirable
• Works effectively independently and capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing assignments
• Excellent collaborative, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, critical thinking, and organization skills
• Detail oriented, can multi-task and work on multiple projects concurrently. Ability to work in a fast-paced organization
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office, PDF, GraphPad prism, Chemstation and ELN notebook is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Environment: primarily working in laboratories or in office
• Travel not required
