As a Managing Director within PNC's Capital Markets organization, you will be based in Orange County or Los Angeles, CA

The depositories segment of PNC’s Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is seeking a seasoned professional to build lasting relationships with banks and credit unions, and further expand our West Coast coverage. Our Relationship Managers (RMs) are the front-line of our business development efforts and are successful due to the thoughtful conversations and breadth of solutions we have in our toolkit. From investment banking to private-label treasury management you will have opportunity to call on multiple levels of the bank or credit union and position PNC FIG as a trusted partner on many levels and take a long term view of the business.
While our group has covered the West Coast for many years, this position will be the first in California and one of only a few regional RM positions in the group. The individual in this position will have a local office to use at their complete discretion.
How you'll contribute as an in-market regional FIG Depositories Relationship Manager…
- Utilize your contacts and network to engage C-level executives at these institutions
- Listen, learn and maintain a deep understanding of your clients’ strategies and challenges
- Collaborate with other RMs, and multiple product partners in derivatives, fixed income, investment banking and others to design and deliver solutions
- Help shape business development efforts with institutions of all sizes in the region
- Maintaining connectivity with PNC Regional Presidents, and law firms, consultants and accountants serving depositories
- Think like an entrepreneur and identify new product opportunities in capital markets
Who you are…
- 5+ years’ experience in investment banking, balance sheet management, and/or capital markets
- Experience developing business in the community and super-community bank space
- Curious, humble, self-starter comfortable prospecting institutions that have never been called on by our group
- Ideally, living in Southern California, or alternatively in a major city in the Pacific Time Zone.
- Ideally, FINRA series 7, 64, 79 licensed, or otherwise open to achieving these licenses within a reasonable time period

Job Description


  • Responsible for a team sales professionals to drive sales activities and strategies for a specific product(s) or transaction(s) and managing and developing select client relationships. Provides superior client experience. Ensures compliance with risk and regulatory requirements. May assist Senior Leadership with the strategic planning for the group.

  • Partners with sales team, relationship managers, investment bankers, traders and other internal service partners to develop, market and deliver complex capital markets solutions to our clients.

  • Provides appropriate solutions based on in-depth assessment of client objectives and market conditions. Develops and maintains client and/or investor relationships. Allocates client coverage to optimize alignment.

  • Coordinates the execution of sales and marketing strategies including new product development, structuring, and distribution, to maximize sales and new business activity.

  • Continually develops knowledge of industry and market developments, deal flow and regulatory requirements. Enforces compliance with policies and regulations. Provides coaching and leadership to develop the line of business.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, or PhD is desirable. Industry experience is typically 8 + years. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
