Quality Inspector (2nd Shift) at Garmin International in Olathe, Kansas

GPS Manufacturer/Distributor

We are seeking a full-time Quality Inspector (2nd Shift) for our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting purchased materials to the Garmin specification and inspection plans using calibrated inspection devices and tools (includes electrical components, mechanical hardware and purchased sub-assemblies). Other essential functions include: 

• Review transaction documentation to verify correct receipts


• Maintain and ensure the integrity of inspection records 


• Unpack and repack material containers as required to inspect material and maintain packaging condition for storage and use


• Facilitate the effective movement of materials and products


• Initiate non-conforming material reports to ensure proper material review and disposition


• Works with senior team members to identify and escalate undesirable or inaccurate parameter measurements 


• Identify and escalate procedures and/or methods that cannot be performed as documented


• Manage priorities based on inputs from Production, Purchasing and available inspection resources

Qualified candidates possess a High school diploma or GED. Other requirements include:

• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 


• Demonstrates ability to apply processes and methods to verify conformance of parts and sub-assemblies 


• Demonstrated ability to inspect materials to the Garmin specification and inspection plans using calibrated inspection devices and tools 


• Must demonstrate the ability to operate basic and advanced equipment in the performance of the essential functions of this role 


• High degree of dexterity and hand-eye coordination with demonstrated ability to manipulate and handle small and delicate parts, fixtures and test equipment, in the performance of essential functions


• Demonstrated visual acuity to distinguish colors (Red-Green-Blue) and shades of gray, to allow differentiation of colors and textures in materials

1+ years’ experience with Coordinate Measurement Machine’s (CMM’s), 1+ years electronic assembly or electronic system test/repair, to provide knowledge of component function, style, and handling precautions, and 1+ years higher education in Associate or Vocational program in computer science, electronics, industrial science, or quality systems is highly preferred!
