West Virginia University HSC Information Technology Services is seeking applications for a Senior Network Engineer (Professional Technologist 4).
About the Opportunity
As a member of HSC ITS Network Engineering Team, the Senior Network Engineer will work with a highly technical group of professionals responsible for the design of the network infrastructure, both on premise and Cloud. This individual will partner with teams to provide engineering, support, and maintenance of the network infrastructure e.g., WLAN/LAN/WAN routing and switching, Firewalls, Linux, Security, and Load balancing with a mind toward automation within the infrastructure.

This position allows for flexibility in work location, including a hybrid work arrangement. Travel to the WVU Campus may need to occur based on organizational needs throughout the year.
What you'll do
A primary responsibility will to be manage the WLAN environment.
Work with IT and department teams to identify technology solutions to achieve business results.
Ensure appropriate implementation of technology within both the development and production environments for University platforms.
Perform engineering and design functions for Networking Systems; oversee the introduction of new Networking Systems technology by utilizing industry standard processes.
Provide Networking and Systems technical support to departments and partners.
Provide off hours network support via on call process.
Maintain awareness of trends and issues in the area of Networking Systems technology; evaluate new technology opportunities and provide analysis of their potential impact to business.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Master's degree preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in
Routing, Switching, and Wireless, NGFW, Automation Coding, and Load balancing.
