Type: Full-Time
Position collects patient specimens, correctly identifies patients, transports specimens, performs phlebotomy and EKG services. Performs other duties as assigned to include drug screen collection and specimen processing. Supervised by Core Lab Supervisor.
Education Desired
* High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience Desired
* Phlebotomy and computer skills preferred.

* Physical requirements include, but not limited to:

Essential Functions
* Enters written and electronic orders for laboratory requests into laboratory computer system.
Laboratory test requests are entered accurately on each patient.
Has no more than six errors annually that requires a patient to be recollected.
Requests are entered according to priority.
Competence is maintained and new skills added as needed.
* Ensures all specimens received meet specimen acceptance criteria.
Specimens are evaluated for adherance to labeling criteria prior to accessioning process.
Time sensitive specimens are identified when received in the laboratory and processed according to policy.
Problem resolution of specimens not meeting acceptance criteria is initiated in a timely manner.
Appropriately stores and transport specimens to correct locations.
* Investigates, documents and resolves problems or complaints.
Problems are resolved with proper consultation and follow-up documentation.
Customer complaints are handled professionally and in a timely manner.
Unresolved problems are communicated to incoming shift staff.
Inquiries and phone calls are answered courteously and information is given to appropriate staff.
* Processes laboratory specimens.
Specimens are processed according to test requirements.
Specimens are stored at correct temperature after processing.
Specimens are processed without labeling errors occurring.
Understands and operates front end processor instrument correctly.
* Demonstrates knowledge of quality, safety and compliance programs.
Quality issues are reported to a supervisor in a timely manner.
Suggestions for process improvement are submitted for review.
Compliance guidelines are applied to all testing and reporting activities.
Laboratory operations are conducted to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
* Performs area specific support and clinical activities.
Accuracy and quality are maintained for activities.
Specific support functions are handles in an organized and timely fashion.

Deadlines for activities are met.
* Process laboratory specimens.
